Mother’s Day in the UK is celebrated on Sunday 10th March this year.
I’m making it my continuing personal crusade to ‘Get Mum in the Picture’. I’ve done rather well so far as you can see from the selection below, but it’s not enough. Read on to find out how you can get your Mum in the picture, as well as a special offer for the occasion too.
Is your Mum amazing? Have you told her lately? Do you agree with the following statements?
Children want pictures with their mum.
Husbands want pictures with their beautiful wives.
Mums and dads want pictures of the happy, successful, amazing woman they raised (ok, and more pictures of the grandchildren whilst you’re at it).
What better way to let her know how much Mum means to you by booking a family portrait session to create and record some magical moments together?
I’ve shared the following articles via my personal and business Facebook page before because they’ve really resonated with me, my page Likers and my Friends:
The Mom Stays in the Picture {via Huffington Post Parents}
“When I look at pictures of my own mother, I don’t look at cellulite or hair debacles. I just see her — her kind eyes, her open-mouthed, joyful smile, her familiar clothes. That’s the mother I remember. My mother’s body is the vessel that carries all the memories of my childhood. I always loved that her stomach was soft, her skin freckled, her fingers long. I didn’t care that she didn’t look like a model. She was my mama.”
How true is that!
I am guilty of being one of those Mums always hiding behind the camera because I dislike having my photo taken. There I said it. I meet PLENTY of ladies (and gents of course) who feel the same way, but I can always coax a smile and entice them out of the awkward pose they pull when we first meet for I am an expert on making people relax and enjoy having their photos taken. I’ve been working on this with myself…with varying results!
Since that article was published it seems that I wasn’t the only person that felt inspired to get in front of the camera for a change. The follow up article contained plenty of Mums sharing stories and images of themselves with their children, something that they may not have done before. Their reasons varied, some heart warming, some heart wrenching. But one thing was the same. They got in the picture.
Moms Explain Why They’re Getting Back In The Picture {via Huffington Post Parents}
“I hate, Hate, HATE pictures of myself! But I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my children and husband,” wrote Irene Martin, “So I put aside my vanity and swallow my pride for my family and take the plunge!”
As Summer Lewis said of the snapshot she chose to send: “When I first saw these pictures I thought, ‘Yikes. Well these ones won’t go in the photo book for the year.’ But looking at them now, I can see how much fun my girl was having–and how much fun I was having… I can look past the lack of make-up, and the fact that I never did my hair that day, and the post baby weight I still had from my then nine-month old. And it’s okay. Because I’m in the picture.”
Remember the P&G Proud Sponsor of Mums adverts “Never the focus, but always there…like air.” Agree? Keep reading…
So with this in mind to give you all a little headstart on getting Mum in the picture between now and 10th March you have the opportunity to save 20% on session bookings and/or session gift vouchers upon quoting the words MOTHERS DAY. Please contact me for further details.
Whether your session is with Mum, Nan, Great Grandma or whoever Mum is to you let’s work together on getting them in the picture. I want to see as many photos like this adorning your walls as possible:
