{The One Where They Got Married}
Secretly, I cry at most weddings. I just love seeing the emotion between couples, their families and friends. It’s an incredibly special occasion and it’s always humbling to be asked to document it on behalf of the happy couple.
The wedding of Becky and Ian had a little extra special meaning to me as Becky has been a friend of mine since the year of Now That’s What I Call Music 28. If around twenty years ago (my word are these tunes really from that far back?!) someone had told me that I’d be the one responsible for photographing her nuptials I would have had trouble believing it, heck we all would!
Fast forward to 2014 and a couple of weekends ago on what was the hottest day of the year thus far Becky and Ian eloped to The Manor Gatehouse, wedding photography Dartford Registry Office for the ‘legal part’ of the celebration of their marriage. There were just a handful of guests in The Anne of Cleves Room and not only was I one of those lucky enough to see the Miss – who looked simply stunning dressed in replica of her Grandmother’s wedding dress – become a Mrs and witness her shed a tear or two in the process, but I was indeed chief photographer too.
Now Becky was adamant she didn’t want any ‘traditional’ shots, understandable since the whole shebang from The Proposal to the Big Party was your antithetical wedding celebration. I still managed to talk them up the stairs though…
I don’t normally weep when editing photos, but I did get a little teary myself when I saw this set. I am so very happy for Becky and Ian. Congratulations guys x
