The Mumdrum Competition Winner
A little while ago I featured as a ‘Mumdrum Mumpreneur‘ on the fabulous pregnancy and parenting website The Mumdrum. In celebration of this fabulous accolade I ran a competition in conjunction with The Mumdrum with the prize of a bump to baby package worth £170 which was won by Sara Lloyd from Bexley in Kent.
By the time the competition results were announced little Frankie had made an early arrival so we skipped straight to her newborn session. She was an absolute dream for me – fed like a trooper then slept soundly for the entire session.
52 Memories
In 2014 The Mumdrum is challenging parents to capture 52 memories of their child in 2014, creating an amazing record for the future via their Online Memory Books. It takes just 1 minute 36 seconds to start an online Child Memory Book and less than a minute to add a diary entry or upload a photo; that’s less than an hour to record all 52 memories! Those who know me know how keen I am to create, share and store memories safely and I can’t think of a better way to do it than this.
Highly Commended and Safely Posing Newborns
As Frankie was so docile I was able to try some of the more complex newborn poses, such as the ‘frog’ where she rests her head on her chin as you’ll see among the beautiful collection of newborn portraits below. Please note that this image is a composite; two photos taken separately then merged together in Photoshop and Frankie was supported at all times whilst these images were taken. Please do not try to replicate this image yourself unless you have the training and experience to do so. I’ll follow up with a post demonstrating how I achieved it shortly.
I was delighted to be awarded Highly Commended by the SWPP for the first image of Frankie, and I previously addressed a comment that was made regarding placing sleeping newborn babies on their front during photo sessions. Safely posing newborns is and always will be my number one consideration, you simply can’t substitute newborn safety for the sake of a photograph. I can assure all that the images in this session – as with all of my sessions – were composed with baby’s safety at the forefront of my mind.
These images are some of my favourite newborn portraits to date, I’d love to know your thoughts too!
