At the tail end of last summer I visited a local lavender field with this lovely family to take advantage of the unusually long flowering season. This particular field grows two varieties of English Lavender (lavandula angustifolia), the Folgate and Maillette varieties and a hybrid variety of lavandula x intermedia, Grosso.
The day was rather more overcast than my previous visit to capture some wonderful family portraits in the lavender – it even tried to rain on us a couple of times – but moments like these are what my rainbow umbrella was invented for. The kids had a ball running up and down the lavender rows and of course I had fun trying to chase three children around whilst trying not to get stung by nettles and bees in the process…all in days work for me!
The lavender field featured in this shoot is poised to open from mid June 2012. I will be featuring ONLY FIVE SESSIONS this year so if you would your images to feature this glorious setting as your backdrop then please get in touch to secure your session in July or August before the vibrant purple prettiness fades.
